“This is my panic picture.”

Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) about his unfinished painting Venus Concordia

On this website I show illustrations and other pictures I created between 1991 and 2011: pen and ink drawings and oil paintings, commissioned and uncommissioned, published and previously unpublished works. Most of the pictures belong to the fantastic, but within this scope they also show the genre’s variety.

The illustrated literature ranges from Edgar Allan Poes “The Raven” to the German pulp series John Sinclair, from psychological horror to Tolkienesque fantasy, from short fiction to non fiction. Things accumulated over the years.

A main focus is on pulp fiction (actually “Heftromane”, a very German thing, I think) and paperback books, because I used to work for the publisher Bastei Lübbe a lot, especially during the 90s. The majority of my works dates back to this decade.

To create this website I selected almost half of the pictures I produced within 20 years and organized them into galleries and articles dealing with the respective projects or group of works.

Have fun!

Navigation: The website is structured as a blog: most recent works come first. To get an overview click on the the index button at the top of the page. In the index posts can be listed more than once in case they belong to more than one category (as most posts do). All articles with full content are listed under “Everything”. To look for certain topics, media or names please use categories, tags and the search form in the sidebar. And please don’t use the internet explorer, if you can avoid it. It does strange things.
